When maintaining their cars appearance, a majority of people focus on the polishing, washing and waxing of it, yet completely ignore the drying side of it, simply leaving the sun to work its magic.

This is a big mistake as removing standing water is a critical step toward  keeping your car looking great. Standing water often contains dissolved solids, detergents from washing, and minerals which, when left on your car, can cause permanent damage. When left to evaporate itself, this water can leave marks on the car within a few hours, if these water marks are not removed, then the sun can cause them to etch permanent marks upon your car, marks which can only be removed through machine polishing.

There are a few methods to remove this standing water before it can have an effect on your cars paintwork, driving the car after to ‘blow dry’ the car using wind is one, whilst putting large ‘sheets’ of water on your car as opposed to small drops has also been claimed to work. However the widely accepted best method of removing these marks, is by use of a microfibre towel to dry the car.
